Join our Performing Arts Programme £20 per week for Band, Drama & Choir.
Music lessons are part and parcel of the Band portion of the session which allows students to either rotate between instruments or focus on their primary instrument. The specialised Drama class develops performance and stage skills, boosting confidence while introducing devising and composition for showcases.
Juniors can also opt to have 1-1 Music lessons instead of group lessons as part of the same membership, and join just the drama and choir sessions. However would have to join 1x Band session a month to join in especially in preparation to performances.
Please get in touch with admin@kingswoodsurreymusic.co.uk to schedule timed separate 1-1 lessons.
Band sessions focus on rehearsals rather than individual practice, while students also study music theory at Level 2 (Equivalent to Grade 1-2).
Every summer term we select children for ABRSM Music Exams & LAMDA Drama Exams. (More info on exams below)

More info on exams:
In primary school years, exams are designed more to motivate children in assessments, this is to introduce young musicians to performing in a fun and supportive way. These include Accredited ABRSM Music Medals and the Prep Test, both ideal for Minis and Juniors under 10 years old.
Music Medals come first and are a great way to build confidence through small steps. The levels progress through Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum (with Platinum roughly equal to Grade 4). Each stage encourages children to perform short pieces, play simple exercises, and enjoy ensemble or duet playing with peers in the class/or with the teacher.
The ABRSM Prep Test can follow once students are ready for a more formal assessment. It includes two short pieces, a duet, and easy listening and rhythm exercises, with no fail mark — just positive feedback and comments from an accredited examiner to celebrate progress.
These primary school level exams help children develop musical understanding, performance confidence, and motivation as they move towards the graded exams later on.
